Considering a Visit to the Dermatologist? Pittsburgh Residents Still Invest in Cosmetics

dermatologist pittsburghThere is no question that we are facing a difficult economic period in this country. Jobs are hard to come by, investments are tanking, and foreclosures are increasing. Yet, in spite of all of these difficulties, consumers are still investing in aesthetic procedures, and they are enjoying long lasting results in the process.

In a recent study of 160 aesthetic practices, such as a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, Pittsburgh and similar communities reported that customers were investing in long term solutions to their aesthetic needs. Instead of pursuing minimally invasive options, that had to be repeated, patients were opting for permanent and semi-permanent options, like surgery. People appear to see a value in long-term results, even if the upfront cost is more.

Another interesting aspect of this report is that patients, over 90 percent of them, are opting for natural looks, rather than fake€ or made-up€ looks. People want to look good, but they still want to look like themselves. Plastic surgery treatments are on the rise, as well. The year 2010 saw a 9 percent increase in surgical procedures. Interestingly, nonsurgical procedures saw a 9 percent decrease. This goes to show that patients are now interested in permanent procedures from their plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Pittsburgh patients are forgoing nonsurgical options in favor of something that will last.
