More Lebanese Men Going For Plastic Surgery Procedures

In recent years, there has been a growing trend of more men being receptive to the benefits of plastic surgery. While at one time, procedures to improve the appearance and diminish signs of aging were relegated to mostly female clientele, men have begun to discover the results and seek improvements of their own. The United States is also not the only country to see this jump — it’s spreading as far and wide as Beirut, in fact.

A recent article pointed to the increase in Lebanese men going under the knife over the past five years, revealing that men getting plastic surgery used to only account for about ten percent of a surgeon’s clientele. Now they account for 25 percent or more. While hair transplants, Botox and facelifts are among the most popular procedures.

Plastic surgeon Firas Hamdan, based in the Beirut suburbs of Clemenceau, spoke about a difference in attitude as well, saying that men used to schedule appointments on Saturdays to avoid being seen. “Now, we see men and women sitting together in the waiting room.” However, he also notes that men still do not openly discuss having the procedures in their social circles, and tend to opt for non-surgical procedures such as Botox to get more natural results that don’t require visible scars or a long recovery period.

Vaser High Def is a procedure that has grown popular with men as well, which has been at work in the U.S. for over ten years, but has only been available in the Middle East for two. It gives the appearance of a flat stomach with a “six pack”, normally only attainable through rigorous exercise. Hamdan mentioned that this procedure was most popular with men who were fit but simply did not have the time to devote to exercising constantly in order to get the look, so the surgery could help them to achieve that goal.

If you are considering plastic surgery Pittsburgh men can feel proud to say they had, it’s time to explore your options and decide what is right for you. Whether you are male or female, the way you appear affects both your self-esteem and the way you look to others.
